Eintracht Frankfurt match review
By: j | August 31st, 2008Hopes for three points at Volkswagen Arena were dashed with six minutes left in time as Faton Toski scored for the visiting Eintracht Frankfurt to bring the match a 2-2 draw.
Die adler took the lead twenty-two minutes into the match as Greek international, Ioannis Amanatidis, pounced on a errant Josué and sent the ball into the back of the net with the characteristic slow start of Wolfsburg biting them again. Five minutes later the spot was pointed to when Aarón Galindo took Grafite down in the area and he calmly stepped-up and sent the ball to the back of the net. At the fifty-first minute Marcel Schäfer’s cross was snapped into goal by Ashkan Dejagah to give Wolfsburg the 2-1 lead. Whilst they were constantly pressuring they couldn’t finish and as is so often the case, missed opportunities cost greatly. Six minutes from time Patrick Ochs fed Faton Toski a perfect pass in the area and he cleanly slotted it in. With Wolfsburg continuing the pressure, the winning goal was not to be had.
A tough draw for Wolfsburg who simply did not play a whole ninety minutes. Defensive lapses are costing the club points and they are foregoing a stronger defensive line for the attack. Inexplicably Cristian Zaccardo was left out of the lineup and if goals of Europe are sincere, he must anchor the back-line with Andrea Barzagli
With the international break Wolfsburg is off till September 13 when they face Hertha Berlin.
