By: j | September 18th, 2008Wolfsburg squeezed by Romania’s Rapid BucureÅŸti 1-0 in UEFA Cup action with at the Volkswagen Arena. The match was dictated primarily by the visiting Romanian clubs very strong midfield play although Wolfsburg definitely squandered a number of good scoring opportunities, particularly in the early stages of play. With the match appearing to be heading to a nil score at the half, Césinha’s foul on Makoto Hasebe in the area one minute into added time and a penalty was awarded. Grafite calmly stepped-up and gave Wolfsburg a 1-0 lead. Scoring opportunities on either end of the pitch were highly limited in the second half and the match ended without further scoring.
