week 2 match preview VfL Bochum

By: j | August 24th, 2008

In continuation of part one of our preview, Wolfsburg will be looking to reverse last years 5-3 blood-letting at the hands of Marcel Koller’s VfL Bochum at the Ruhrstadion.

Felix Magath has been very vocal this week, that while pleased with the final outcome of the opening match of the campaign, the “samba beat” in the attack needs to be more penetrating. He did warn of Bochum’s urgency for points: “After losing away last weekend, Bochum will be doing everything humanly possible to pick up their first points of the season and we have to enter the game with that in mind.”

Cristian Zaccardo and Andrea Barzagli will nail-down a tight defense and I’ve been tipped that Zvjezdan Misimović is heading into the match without any reigns in the attack with Christian Gentner and Ashkan Dejagah ready to be more aggressive. Mahir Sağlık could see the starting grid based upon Edin Džeko match-time fitness test and Sascha Riether is also likely moved to a midfield role given his efforts last week. This is going to be a very exciting match that I will review after it concludes.
