I actually think they got a relatively easy draw to advance or at least “easier” than VfB Stuttgart, presuming of-course that Wolfsburg emphasizes defending. Group C is a beast and I wouldn’t dare miss Standard Liège v FK Partizan

Hope you had already recovered from your shock, j. Because Wolfsburg have been drawn with AC Milan in the UEFA Cup group stage.

Also in Wolfsburg’s group, there’s also Heerenveen (Netherlands), Braga (Portugal) and Portsmouth (England).

Apart from AC Milan, Portsmouth and Heerenveen are the only two clubs I know a little bit more about in Wolfsburg’s group. This is the first time Portsmouth are playing in Europe. They come into the UEFA Cup as the winners of England’s FA Cup (it’s Germany’s equivalent of the DFB Pokal). Heerenveen, well, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Michael Bradley (who plays for the USA, by the way) used to play for the Dutch side.

I think Wolfsburg will be in fine shape with the draw but they need play more disciplined in the attack to advance.

I was looking at who is in Pot One from the UEFA website and the most attractive prospective group opponent for Wolfsburg can be, AC Milan. The ‘Wolves’ are in the fifth and last pot going into Tuesday’s draw.
