Wolfsburg strikes an important win over Stuttgart

After falling behind a goal, Wolfsburg stormed back with four unanswered goals to defeat a dejected Stuttgart side at Volkswagen Arena. Armin Veh’s visiting forces took the lead seventeen minutes after the start with Martin Lanig poaching an loose ball in close off a Mario Gómez drive. Die Wölfe went on the hunt for the leveler right away but through the break every attempt was thwarted by Vfb ‘keeper Jens Lehmann. After the break, Wolfsburg’s onslaught continued and six-minutes after the break a rebound from Zvjezdan Misimović’s shot was shuttled into the net by an opportunistic Grafite. To the credit of a tough Stuttgart side, they fought back with honour and five minutes afterthe equalizer Felix Magath called upon Cristian Zaccardo as a much needed steadying influence. With twenty-four minutes remaining the hinges came off Vfb as Grafite poached on his second rebound of his afternoon to make it 2-1 and only three minutes later, Wolfsburg’s emerging star Edin Džeko added the first of two goals. Six minutes later the Bosnia and Herzegovina international headed in a Christian Gentner cross to take the match to a 4-1 conclusion.

Wolfsburg returns to action in the UEFA Cup against SC Braga which hail from the beautiful northern section of Portugal.
